Margate Creative Land Trust

As part of Margate’s £22.2m Towns Fund allocation, the city committed to setting up a Creative Land Trust (CLT) to establish and safeguard affordable space for creative activity in perpetuity.

A&P’s Alex Russell worked with WorkWild and PRD to establish the Margate CLT. The work involved developing the business, operational, commercial, and social cases for the CLT and establishing the legal and governance structure for the organisation. The team appraised underused assets throughout Margate to understand the market opportunities available. This allowed for collaboration with Margate’s creative sector and communities to build support for the project.

Now formalised, the CLT is able to use its £6m allocation from the Towns Fund to support Margate’s creative sector and select properties to purchase.

Subsequently, Augarde & Partners have been commissioned to devise and support an Assets Investment Plan for the Margate Creative Land Trust - supporting their first step forward.
