Derby City Centre Cultural Masterplan

Derby City Council required a Cultural Masterplan as part of its city centre regeneration and to support the long-term legacy of the council’s UK City of Culture 2025 bid. Augarde & Partners undertook this work, analysing land, property, and the development pipeline; mapping cultural assets and other landholdings for potential as creative use; and engaged cultural sectors and major employers to understand their perspectives on Derby’s strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for cultural sector growth.

A&P supported the council to co-create a vision with the private, cultural and academic sectors, identifying opportunities for impactful and financially viable city-wide interventions for building and sustaining the city’s cultural economy—such as strategies for new development, reuse of vacant commercial assets, a compact with cultural and grassroots groups, and a creative land trust proposal.

The council secured funding for the action plan, which is now being delivered.
