Merton regeneration project
Augarde & Partners led a major commission with Clarion Housing Association to chart the story of the Merton Regeneration Project (MRP), an ambitious scheme set to deliver 3,300 new homes alongside commercial, community, and green space. The project addressed inequalities within the London Borough of Merton, transforming local people’s life chances. The commission assessed the complex history and progress of this transformational multi-estate regeneration programme, informed by deep and wide-ranging engagement.
We supported Clarion in clearly articulating the vision for MRP, tying together three seemingly disconnected estates undergoing large-scale regeneration and establishing a framework to guide effective decision-making.
A streamlined but in-depth baseline research and engagement programme allowed us to gain insight from key partners and stakeholders, including the local authority and the wider community. Engagement also included Clarion’s resident base as well as Clarion staff, enabling us to make recommendations for mechanisms to successfully deliver the strategy. Drawing on the most up-to-date demographic data, market assessment, and key policy, we provided a robust strategy rooted in real community need.
Our work set a future direction for the project and provided a delivery plan to ensure a positive impact was experienced by local people across the community. It also updated an outdated Sustainability Vision, aligning it with current requirements and translating it into a detailed action plan with clear outcomes to support monitoring and evaluation.
