Exploring Circular Innovation at The Loop
Last week, The Loop opened its doors to over 400 guests for a special Open House London event, offering a glimpse into the vibrant ecosystem of circular economy businesses operating in Hackney Wick. The Loop is a first-of-its-kind circular economy hub located in Hackney Wick that is host to circular economy businesses. It’s model is based on supporting circular businesses to scale their operations by connecting like-minded peers, helping trial new processes and undertaking R&D activities locally.
Guests (were invited into the warehouse building, which is not usually accessible to the public, to see first-hand how meanwhile-use spaces can be a catalyst for positive change. From upcycled fashion and eco-friendly product design to innovative recycling processes, each studio showcased a unique approach to minimizing waste and maximizing resource efficiency.
Visitors learned about the unique community ownership model of The Loop and how this approach empowers local stakeholders and ensures that the project remains rooted in the needs and aspirations of the surrounding community. The model not only supports the growth of businesses but also fosters a sense of shared responsibility and investment in the future of the area.
The evening also included interactive workshops where attendees could try their hand at new sustainable techniques, like testing out Yodomo’s incredibly sopshiticated tech that can identify fibres.
Safe to say, everyone left with a deeper understanding of how circular economy principles can be applied in practical, impactful ways. Many left feeling inspired to incorporate more sustainable practices into their own lives and businesses.
